Can Acupuncture Help With Migraines & Headaches?

Yes, acupuncture is commonly used as a complementary approach for migraine prevention and headache management. The most recent research suggests that acupuncture may help reduce the frequency of migraines and tension-type headaches.

Our acupuncture treatment involves placing very thin, sterile needles at carefully selected points on the body. Rather than following the same protocol for every headache, your treatment is personalized based on your symptoms, health history, headache patterns, and individual goals.

Our acupuncture services may help support people who are experiencing:

●     Migraines

●     Tension headaches

●     Recurring or chronic headaches

●     Neck and shoulder tension associated with headaches

●     Stress-related headache patterns

We’ll talk through a recommended treatment plan for your individual needs, but acupuncture can also be used alongside usual migraine and headache remedies.

A Personalized Approach to Headache Care

At Latitude Wellness we understand how headaches can look very different from one person to another. During your first appointment, Lindsay will take the time to understand factors such as how often your headaches occur, where you experience pain, associated symptoms, potential triggers, sleep and stress patterns, muscle tension, medications, and other treatments you're currently using.

This allows her to create an individualized acupuncture plan focused on your specific headache pattern rather than treating migraines or headaches as a single symptom.

What to Expect During Treatment

When you visit our acupuncture facility in South Burlington, VT, your first visit begins with a comprehensive consultation to discuss your health history, headaches, lifestyle, and treatment goals.

Once that’s squared away, your practitioner will begin gently placing very thin, sterile needles at selected acupuncture points based on your individual needs. Once the needles are in place, you'll typically relax comfortably for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Before your visit ends, we'll discuss recommended treatment frequency and what to monitor between appointments. Because migraine and headache patterns vary, your treatment plan may be adjusted based on how you respond to care.
